Alexithymia

A subclinical phenomenon involving a lack of emotional awareness or, more specifically, difficulty in identifying and describing feelings. Often highly correlated with psychosomatic disorders.

Ego-Syntonic

Behaviors, values, and feelings that are in harmony with or acceptable to the needs and goals of the ego, or consistent with one's ideal self-image. Common in OCPD.

Transference

The unconscious redirection of feelings from one person to another, primarily referring to a patient's redirection toward their therapist based on early childhood relationships.

Anhedonia

The inability to experience pleasure from activities usually found enjoyable. A core diagnostic symptom of major depressive disorder.
